Business leadership for a sustainable North Carolina

Going green. Cleantech. Green jobs. Corporate social responsibility. Eco certifications, standards and labels...

"How do I cut through the media hype and figure out what’s right for my company?"

"Aren’t we doing enough already?"

"Why aren’t we doing more?"

"Why should we be concerned about this stuff when we have an economic crisis on our hands?"

"How do I connect with other professionals to create new business opportunities and make a real difference?"

If you are asking any of these questions, then you’ve come to the right place.

WHO we are.

The Sustainable NC Business Council is a peer-to-peer network of companies of all sizes and types, as well as organizations working constructively with the business community toward a sustainable economy. Our parent organization, Sustainable North Carolina, is a 501c3 nonprofit founded in 1999.

WHAT we do.

...and what we can do for you

The Sustainable NC Business Council promotes business leadership for action toward lasting environmental, social, and economic prosperity in North Carolina and beyond.

We do this through a peer-to-peer network that supports:

Connections for sharing expertise and developing new business opportunities

Promotion
and recognition of sustainability-oriented businesses

Intelligence
and education to enable informed decisions and actions

Collaboration to effectively address pressing sustainability issues

WHY it matters.

North Carolina...and its businesses...are facing new realities.

Resource depletion.   Volatile energy prices.   Financial meltdown.  Climate change.

Health care crisis.  Loss of trust in business and government leaders…and more.

The old rules don’t apply anymore. What will replace them?

We urgently need to understand and adapt to rapidly changing conditions. We need inspired solutions to the challenges we face instead of a patchwork of short term fixes.

Sustainability is a practical framework for analysis, decision making and meaningful action.

The business community, with its energy, pragmatism and creativity, is an indispensable partner for creating new possibilities.
